Where the dog Nose best!

NASDA

In North American Sport Dog Association competitions, dogs search for antlers, safely contained rats, and lost items. Our NASDA judge and instructor will introduce your dog to this fantastic enrichment activity. Many dogs enjoy searching for rats, but it is especially a great outlet for dogs with prey drive. Shed Dog (searching for antlers) is a lot of fun, especially for dogs that love to retrieve. Lost Item is searching for people’s “lost” stuff – an incredibly useful skill!

Trailing and Locating, Urban Locating, Lost Item, and Shed Dog are taught at Oakleaf Ranch in Loomis. Urban Locating and Lost Item are taught at Paws n’ Play in Sacramento. Lost Item is taught at Pet Food Express in Roseville.

Earthdog

Earth-working terrier sports include AKC Earthdog, American Working Terrier Association, and NASDA Den Hunt. These games are where dogs (mostly terriers) go into 9″ x 9″ underground tunnels to find a safely contained rat. Our classes will help dogs build prey drive and the confidence to go into the tunnels.

Rats, in Tubes, in Straw, Oh My!

Dog sports such as Barn Hunt and Rat Games involve dogs finding and alerting to rats safely enclosed in PVC tubes and hidden in straw bales. Many dogs enjoy searching for rats, but it is especially a great outlet for dogs with prey drive. Our classes are a great introduction to rats in tubes and are perfect for dogs that are new to the sport or need to work on specific skills such as tunnelling or fine-tuning alerts.

These classes are taught at Paws n’ Play in Sacramento.
